Fall Garage Organization Tips

Fall Garage Organization Tips

Planning on organizing your garage this fall? Be sure to follow these fall garage organization tips from Pacific Experts Garage Doors in Las Vegas.

1. Don’t Procrastinate on Fall Garage Organization

When it comes to fall garage organizing, you really want to be on top of all of your cleaning, decluttering, and organizing tasks. After late august and clear through the end of December, the days are getting shorter and shorter until the shortest day of the year – December 21. This means that you have less time in the day to organize your garage unless you want to be working into the night which can be difficult for anyone working a 9 to 5.

Plan all of your garage organizing for the day or two that you have off during the week and start early in the day so that you can organize your belongings comfortably.

2. Declutter Your Garage

For many homeowners, the garage is the de facto storage unit for all of the items that we don’t really need on a daily basis. Things like bicycles, tools, and bins full of holiday decorations line the walls of most garages. This can be incredibly cluttering and will make your garage look more disorganized and smaller than it really is. When you’re organizing your garage, try to declutter as much as possible by getting rid of items that you don’t need (but seem to keep around). You can throw these items away or donate them to your local thrift store.

3. Clean the Garage Floors

Do you use an oil drip tray under your parking spot? If not, your concrete garage floors may become stained with oil which is both unsightly and dirty. Furthermore, if your garage door’s weather stripping has been worn down it will let dirt and debris into your garage. Luckily garage floors tend to be porous and will wash clean with just a simple pressure wash. You can invest in a pressure washer or you can rent one from your local hardware store but this will help get your garage ready for fall and winter.

4. Put Away Your Summer Gear and Keep Winter Gear in Close Reach

When you go through your fall organization checklist, it’s a good idea to make it a point to put away your summer-specific items and put the fall and winter items that you need where they are more accessible. Some items that you may not need yet, like winter decorations, can be moved to easy to reach spots while your summer gardening tools can go into bins on the top shelf of your storage racks.

5. Invest in Extra Garage Storage Space

If your garage is looking a little cluttered, you may want to invest in extra storage space for your garage. Overhead storage shelving is a great option for garages that are limited with the amount of space that they have.
